There are few days when Meghan Markle’s wardrobe and style choices don’t make the headlines—and for good reason. The former Suits actress holds her own with fashion, and recently, what she chooses to wear on her hands, particularly that finger, has been of particular public interest.
Last week on January 9, Markle, 36, stopped by radio station Reprezentz 107.3 FM with her fiancé Prince Harry, and on her way into the station, she stopped to wave at the gathered crowd, flashing a new gold-and-diamond ring on her right hand.
As it turns out, that ring happens to be available to the masses for a cool $715 via Zofia Day, an up-and-coming jewelry company based out of Encinitas, California. “I believe in pieces that are timeless and can work into everyday life,” Lisette Polny, the owner and designer, tells The Knot of her personal aesthetic. “I also always think of the different seasons of fashion and personal changes, I want my clients to be able to incorporate their pieces in their everyday wears no matter what it is.”
The ring that Markle chose for her public outing was the Bar Stack Ring, a 14-karat yellow gold ring featuring pavé diamonds.
Markle wore the bar ring with two other unidentified gold bands on her right hand during the visit to the radio station, and the understated glam look caught the eyes of many Internet users in the days following. But Markle has worn Polny’s designs before. In October, the fashionable actress wore a pair of subtle Dash Ear Studs for her cover shoot for Vanity Fair, a pair that Polny revealed were a favorite of the bride-to-be. (Markle owns a total of “four or five” pieces from Polny’s collection, she told People).
“It is a little overwhelming to see what an impact she has on the world,” the designer tells The Knot of how things have changed since Markle stepped out with her pieces. “I have an abundance of gratitude for the attention the line is getting.”
“I have always wanted to grow organically and slow as I dedicated this company to my daughter who was born in 2014,” she says. “It is beautiful to see the parallels of her growth and the company. I feel like she has blossomed so much in the last couple of months and now the company is too!”
Markle’s real engagement ring is also a veritable work of art, combining meaningful elements from the couple’s travels (a large center stone that the prince is said to have secured from Botswana) and Prince Harry’s royal legacy (the two diamonds on either side of the larger stone are from his mother’s personal collection).
“She seems to have a carefree, yet timeless style,” Polny added. “I love that she is a natural beauty with an underlying sense of glamour—understated and timeless.”
